Founded in 1861, the Nyländska Jaktklubben, NJK is Finland’s premier yacht club as well as its oldest registered sports organization. The Clubhouse, located on the beautiful island of Blekholmen is situated in Helsinki’s South Harbour, adjacent to the city center with berths for 125 yachts, including space for up to 20 12 Metres. NJK accommodates their 2500+ members, berths 440 sailing yachts, 90 dinghies and 374 motorboats at their two main harbours in Helsinki as well as at an additional 10 outstations in the Finnish archipelago, with the most westerly on the Åland Islands.

NJK has been the forerunner of Finnish yacht racing culture and has a long history with the Metre Classes. In 2019, the Club hosted the 5.5mR World Championship and in recent history, they organized World Championships for the 8mR Class in 2013 and for the 6mR Class in 2011.

Nyländska Jaktklubben has a long history with the New York Yacht Club and other North American clubs. As a founding member of the North American Station in 1945, along  with the Royle Swedish YC, the Royal Danish YC and the Royal Norwegian YC, NJK has been a pioneer in the promotion of close ties between North American and Nordic yachtsmen.
